Assistant Manager – External Affairs
Your role in HEINEKEN
As an Assistant Manager – External Affairs, you will build and maintain effective relationships with key Federal, State and local government stakeholders to safeguard HEINEKEN Malaysia’s licence to operate.
You will monitor and assess policy, regulatory, fiscal and non-fiscal developments, providing timely insights on potential risks and opportunities affecting the business. You will also support the development and implementation of advocacy strategies, position papers and stakeholder communications to advance HEINEKEN Malaysia’s interests on key regulatory and fiscal matters.
In this role, you will also
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant Federal, State and local government authorities.
- Support government meetings, engagement programmes, courtesy calls and stakeholder outreach, while maintaining stakeholder mapping and engagement records.
- Monitor and track policy, regulatory, legislative and fiscal developments relevant to HEINEKEN Malaysia.
- Assess potential business impact and emerging risks and provide timely updates and recommendations to the External Affairs Manager.
- Conduct research and analysis on key policy, regulatory and operational issues.
- Support the development of position papers, submissions, briefing notes and advocacy materials, and coordinate inputs from relevant internal functions.
- Oversee relevant applications for government or regulatory approvals to support the smooth operations of HEINEKEN Malaysia.
- Support internal stakeholders in tracking progress and following up with government authorities to ensure timely approvals.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of key stakeholders, government engagements and policy developments.
- Prepare regular reports and updates on regulatory and stakeholder developments to support External Affairs engagement strategy and planning.
Key Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Law, Public Policy, Business or a related field. A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field would be an advantage.
- More than 5 years of experience in Government Relations or a similar field.
- Experience as a serving or former government officer would be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of government relations, public policy and the regulatory environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess policy and regulatory developments and their potential impact on the business.
- Strong strategic thinking and communication skills.
- Good stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with government authorities and internal stakeholders.
- Strong command of English.
