About the role:
As our Brewing Manager, you’ll take the lead in delivering safe, high-quality and efficient brewing operations, ensuring we consistently produce great beer to the standards our consumers expect.
You’ll be responsible for the performance of the Brewing department, setting clear priorities and bringing people together around a shared ambition for operational excellence. From raw materials through to finished beer, you’ll lead the brewing process with a strong focus on Safety, Food Safety, Quality, Cost and continuous improvement.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll combine technical brewing expertise with strong people leadership. You’ll work closely with teams across the brewery, including Quality, Engineering and Packaging, as well as suppliers and wider Supply Chain stakeholders, to identify opportunities, solve problems and continuously improve how we operate.
You’ll also play a key role in developing our brewing capability, embedding TPM and continuous improvement ways of working, and ensuring the team has the skills, knowledge and environment to deliver World Class performance.
Some of the role’s key responsibilities:
- Lead the Brewing operation to deliver safe, high-quality beer efficiently and consistently, balancing Safety, Food Safety, Quality, Cost and service.
- Own the department’s performance, safety and sustainability agenda, ensuring HEINEKEN standards are embedded and continuously improved.
- Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence, using TPM, Lean and Six Sigma to reduce losses, improve reliability and optimise processes.
- Lead the Brewing AM Pillar, working with Engineering and Maintenance to maximise equipment reliability, availability and performance.
- Develop and implement process, technology and innovation improvements, including supporting successful new product introductions.
- Lead, engage and develop the Brewing team, building capability, accountability and a culture of high performance.
- Build strong relationships across the brewery and with suppliers, trade unions and key stakeholders, working collaboratively to solve problems and deliver improvements.
- Manage resources, budgets and departmental KPIs, using data and insight to drive performance and ensure Brewing meets the needs of the wider Supply Chain.
About you:
We’re looking for an experienced manufacturing, brewing or engineering professional with strong technical knowledge and confident people leadership. You might come from a brewing or beverage production background, or be a Chemical or Process Engineer with experience in a complex manufacturing environment.
You’ll be a natural problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset, comfortable balancing safety, quality, cost and performance. You’ll also be a collaborative and inclusive leader, able to build strong relationships across the brewery and experience of working constructively with trade unions or employee representatives would be highly valued.
We’re looking for:
- Experience in brewing, beverage production, FMCG manufacturing, chemical processing or process engineering.
- Strong people leadership and team development experience.
- Experience of trade union or employee representative engagement.
- Knowledge of Food Safety, Quality, Safety and manufacturing standards.
- Experience with TPM, Lean, Six Sigma or continuous improvement.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication and influencing skills.
- A relevant technical degree or qualification, ideally in Brewing, Chemistry, Chemical/Process Engineering, Biotechnology, Food Science or a related discipline.
