Closing Date: 9th November 2026
As the nation’s leading pub, cider and beer company and the name behind a host of brilliant brands, we’re looking for equally brilliant people to help us on our journey to building a better future.
Our UK Legal team plays an important role in supporting the business, providing high-quality legal services and helping manage legal risk across the HEINEKEN UK (HUK) group, including Star Pubs and Beavertown.
We’re looking for a Commercial Legal Advisor to join our team in Edinburgh on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll support the UK Director of Legal Affairs and colleagues across our 12-strong Legal & Compliance team, helping the business deliver its commercial and strategic priorities while managing legal risk.
About the role
You’ll be joining the business at an exciting time, with significant projects to deliver to help us meet our objectives now and in the future.
You’ll provide commercial legal advice across a range of business activities, working closely with colleagues in Sales, Procurement, Marketing, Supply Chain and other teams. From reviewing and negotiating contracts to supporting business projects and resolving disputes, you’ll help colleagues make informed decisions and find practical solutions to legal challenges.
You’ll also work with colleagues across the wider HUK group, external advisers and other stakeholders to improve how we deliver legal support. Other aspects of the role will include:
- Commercial contracts: Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on a range of commercial agreements, including procurement, direct and indirect supply, national and regional sales, IT and contract brewing arrangements.
- Business advice: Providing clear, practical legal advice on projects, pre-contractual discussions and contractual interpretation, helping stakeholders understand legal risks and make informed decisions.
- Business projects: Supporting commercial aspects of corporate transactions and wider business initiatives as required.
- Legal developments: Keeping up to date with relevant legislation and legal developments, sharing knowledge with colleagues through training, seminars and legal reviews.
- Continuous improvement: Identifying opportunities to improve legal processes, data and technology, and developing templates, guidance and FAQs to help the Legal team work efficiently and consistently.
You’ll work alongside experienced legal colleagues and have the opportunity to contribute across a broad range of commercial matters in a business with a varied portfolio of brands and operations.
Who we’re looking for
You’ll be qualified to practise as a lawyer in Scotland or England & Wales (0-5 years PQE) and have experience from a commercial law firm and/or an in-house legal team, along with a good understanding of commercial law.
You’ll have experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and be keen to apply your skills across areas such as procurement, supply, sales, intellectual property and IT contracts.
Just as importantly, you’ll be comfortable building relationships with colleagues across the business and explaining legal matters clearly. You’ll bring a flexible approach, be able to manage competing priorities and have strong written and verbal communication skills. A broad understanding of business operations and the commercial considerations behind contractual decisions would also be an advantage.
