Title: Procurement Controller
Purpose:
The Procurement Controller at Heineken Beverages is a key role responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of the procurement function. This position combines financial expertise with procurement knowledge to ensure effective cost management, supplier relationships, and financial analysis within the procurement department. The Procurement Controller plays a crucial role in driving profitability, optimizing costs, and enhancing overall financial performance.
Key responsibilities:
Financial Planning and Analysis:

- Review and approve the budget guidelines for intrinsic, extrinsic and indirect group procured categories.
- Develop and maintain financial models to analyse procurement costs, budgets, and forecasts.
- Review intrinsic and extrinsic price mandate proposals prior to submission for exec sign off.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to optimize procurement strategies.
- Conduct variance analysis and identify areas for cost savings and process improvements.
- Collaborate with other departments to align financial objectives with procurement goals.
- Assess impact of supply chain direct and indirect costs inputs on COGS and recommend targets.
Cost Management and Negotiations:

- Monitor and control procurement costs, ensuring adherence to budgets and financial targets.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive negotiations with suppliers.
- Conduct price analysis and benchmarking to ensure competitive pricing and cost-effectiveness.
- Implement strategies to optimize procurement spend and reduce total cost of ownership.
Supplier Management:

- Evaluate supplier performance from a financial standpoint, assessing their financial stability, pricing structures, and payment terms.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to negotiate favorable supplier contracts and terms.
- Monitor supplier compliance with financial terms and conditions, resolving any financial issues or disputes.
- Identify and develop strategic supplier relationships to ensure a reliable and cost-effective supply chain.
- Assess and review the cost of non-conformance due to a group procured defective material, transport non-conformances and ensure the claim is settled.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:

- Prepare regular financial reports and presentations on procurement performance, including key metrics, cost analysis, and savings achieved.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, policies, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with the Finance department to ensure accurate and timely financial data integration and reporting.
- Review and approve business standards of intrinsic and extrinsic costs & logistics routings.
- Perform intrinsic and extrinsic variance to standards evaluation and evaluate improvement, escalate root cause analysis, facilitate the decision making and implementation process.
- Ensure alignment across procurement categories and logistics to the group standards.
- Manage the approval of standards at the standards review board with all standards related to procurement environment.
- Validating of intrinsic and extrinsic master data e.g. outline agreements, schedule C and the impact on COGs.
Process Improvement and Systems Enhancement:

- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the procurement function to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement procurement-related system enhancements or upgrades.
- Leverage technology and analytics to streamline procurement financial processes and reporting.
- Ensure governance and control around the material ledger process and system. Train, guide, evaluate and facilitate correct ML Management.
- Review actual intrinsic, extrinsic, indirect and direct cost performance against standard and evaluate variances explanation.
- Monitor, report and forecast intrinsic, extrinsic, direct and indirect costs, identify risks and recommend remedial actions [CPA reporting]
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- A master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CIMA/ BCom Accounting honours) advantages.
- Proven experience in financial management or analysis within the procurement function, preferably in an FMCG company.
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in the area of Management Accounting and/or Controlling, ideally in Supply Chain. FMCG experience advantageous.
- Proficiency in using financial software and systems, as well as advanced proficiency in COUPA within the procurement function, preferably in an FMCG company.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and cost optimization strategies.
- Proficiency in financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data to drive business decisions.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills to effectively collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal/communication/influencing skills to challenge and win support and drive decision making.
- Excellent team player with strong oral and written communication skills.
- High level of cross functional cooperation: effectively partnering with various teams.
- Sound knowledge of MS office and SAP with specific importance to manufacturing.
- Ability to prepare simple/medium complexity procurement challenges and mandates for business approval.
