Packaging Shift Manager

 

Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and people-focused Packaging Shift Manager to lead packaging operations and ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of the production plan. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the assigned packaging shift, leading and developing a high-performing team, optimizing resources, and driving continuous improvement across packaging operations. You will work closely with Quality, Maintenance, Logistics, Safety, TPM, and other stakeholders to deliver production targets while maintaining HEINEKEN safety, food safety, quality, and sustainability standards.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage packaging operations for the assigned shift, ensuring production plans are achieved safely, efficiently, and in line with quality and performance standards.
  • Ensure compliance with HEINEKEN safety, food safety, sustainability, 5S, HACCP, and applicable regulatory standards, while promoting a strong safety culture across the team.
  • Monitor packaging processes and equipment performance, identify deviations, and ensure timely corrective actions to maintain product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Lead TPM and continuous improvement activities, including Kaizen and RCFA initiatives, to improve process performance, eliminate losses, and sustain operational excellence.
  • Lead, develop, and coach the packaging team, ensuring effective onboarding, performance management, skills development, and accurate competency matrices.
  • Manage shift resources, including manpower, equipment, materials, and overtime, to optimize productivity, control costs, and support the overall packaging plan.
  • Monitor and report key packaging performance indicators and collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Logistics, Safety, TPM, and suppliers to resolve operational, quality, and process-related issues.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Additional qualifications or training in Manufacturing, Engineering, Packaging, Supply Chain, or a related field would be an asset.

 

Knowledge & Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing, beverage, packaging, or a related production environment.
  • Previous experience leading and managing teams in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Practical knowledge of packaging processes, production operations, and quality requirements.
  • Experience with TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is an asset.
  • Knowledge of safety, food safety, HACCP, quality management systems, and applicable manufacturing standards.
  • Experience using production data and KPIs to identify opportunities, monitor performance, and drive improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to respond effectively to operational challenges.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
  • Willingness to work shifts and support operational requirements as needed.
