Safety Health and Environmental Manager - Commerce
Position Title: Safety, Health, and Environmental Manager- Commerce

Job Purpose:
As the Safety, Health, and Environmental Manager-Commerce, will play a pivotal role in championing and promoting occupational safety, health, and environmental awareness across our commerce function at Heineken Ethiopia. Primary responsibility will be to monitor all safety-related issues, including risk assessments and safety training while sharing best practices and disseminating information within and across sales regions, Heineken-owned warehouses, distributor outlets, and road safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Awareness and Culture: Develop a culture of safety among Commerce employees by implementing several initiatives, such as safety campaigns, safety induction sessions, safety accreditation for sales staff, and safety briefings prior to meetings.
- Safety Training: Develop and conduct safety training programs for all Commerce employees and third-party contractors, including induction, initial, ongoing, and refresher training, etc.
- Safety Adherence: Ensure that every Commerce employee complies with safety policies and procedures.
- Road Safety Program and Policy: Ensure full compliance with the road safety program and policy.
- Telematics Monitoring: Monitor drivers' weekly reports from the telematics dashboard to promote positive behavior behind the wheel.
- Incident Investigation: Conduct thorough incident investigations to identify root causes and contributing factors, as well as necessary remedial measures.
- Safety Events Reporting: Promptly report safety events in the designated platform and coordinate accident investigations.
- Lost Time on Injuries: Minimize lost time due to injuries by maintaining strict adherence to safety policies and ensuring safe working conditions.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Management: Coordinate the administration of PPE management in sales regions and warehouses as required.
- Events Management- Commerce: Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing team to ensure the safe execution of events is facilitated as per the safety standard.
- Contractor Safety Management: Implement Heineken's Contractor Safety Management program in Commerce and marketing activities.
- Manual Handling: Ensure compliance with manual handling procedures to prevent physical injuries.
- Warehouse Safety: Ensure safety adherence is as per the required standard on both Heineken and Distributor warehouses.
- Monthly Safety Reporting: provide bi-weekly & monthly safety reports and share trend analyses with relevant stakeholders.
- Journey Management Plan: work along with the Fleet & Sales team to develop and implement detailed journey management plans for relevant stakeholders.
- Good Housekeeping (GHK) & 5S: Put the 5S program into practice and make sure that the internal warehouse maintains good housekeeping as needed.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct detailed risk assessments and implement preventive and recovery barriers as required.
- Perform other activities as assigned by the line manager
Job Requirements
Education
- Degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience and skills required
- Experience: minimum 3-5 years of experience as a safety, health, and environmental management or SHE Coordinator in a manufacturing Company
- Computer skills: good command of MS Office.
- Good knowledge of Ethiopian legislation in Health & Safety and Environment.
- Good knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSAS 18001).
- Strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to influence change and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Special conditions:
- Available, in case of emergencies, 24 hours, 7 days per week.
- Available to frequent traveling (an average, once per Month) to the different breweries, regions, and warehouse depots)
